‘I am watching as to what is happening in your province. Of course you are facing great difficulties and obstacles there. My attention has been drawn to an article in ‘Dawn’ regarding the College Magazine being now renamed as the Mauiyan, The aggressive attitude displayed by the Hindus in different parts of India is not only highly objectionable but in the long run it will prove more harmful to them than to Mussalmans. I have every sympathy with you and wish you every success.’
Message to N.W.F.P. Muslim Students
Federation, April 4, 1943
It is really gratiing to note that the Muslim intelligentsia in your province is now up and doing and realizes its responsibility towards the Muslim national cause, to uphold which is the duty of every one of us. The turn of events in the recent past has demonstrated beyond doubt that the All-India Muslim League is an organization essentially of our people and has for its sanction and support the goodwill and confidence of the whole of Muslim India.
Your province, by virtue of its unique position, is a very important province. Its importance will still be increased by the establishment of our national homeland of Pakistan, for which we are struggling now. It is a source of great encouragement to me that our people in your province have started to organize themselves. Strengthening yourselves is, really speaking, strengthening the borders of Pakistan, a thing which will enable us to achieve our goal and thus maintain our freedom, honour, prestige and glory of Islam for which we are now fighting.
You have asked me to give you a message. What message can I give you? We have got the greatest message in the Quran for our guidance and enlightenment. All that we have got to do is to know ourselves and the great qualities, virtues and powers that we possessed. Let us work up to that great ideal.
Let us utilize our great potentialities in the right direction. Let us forego our personal interests and convenience for the collective good of our people and for a higher and nobler cause. Pakistan aims at it and if we stand united, organized and faithful to our cause, the time is not far off when we shall achieve our goal and prove ourselves worthy of our wonderfiui and glorious past.
The task is hard before us, but it all depends upon us alone; and if we work steadily with courage, optimism, self-confidence, discipline and unity, Insha Allah, we shall win the battle very soon. One hundred million of Muslims are determined to achieve Pakistan where we have our homelands, and there is no power which can hold us back.
Go ahead with your work ,and I wish
Speech in Reply to Welcome Address Presented at the Intermediate College,
Quetta, July 6, 1943
I advise the students not to take an active part in politics but at the same time to remain well-informed about India and the world events. Equip yourselves for the future, because you have a mighty part to play. Concentrate on your study and try to make education common in your province which is lying far behind other provinces in this respect.
you
